TRAFFIC
A 5 MINUTE SERIES
We pass many people on any given day. We pass many people at any given place. But who passed through before you? Who did you just miss? You exist alongside a myriad of people. People you might not normally interact with but are still an integral part of your everyday. They are the background players in your life. Your day is full of people of races, religions, shapes, sizes, colors, and abilities that are not necessarily your own. TRAFFIC is a study of our connections.
A look into 5 minutes at a specific place and the people there. A digital composite of a street scene and the people that are there through those 5 minutes. While you may not directy interact, you are related through the proximity. People can occupy the same space, event the same exact spot, but not at the same time. TRAFFIC challenges our spatial awareness, our sense of self and how we interact with the world and the other people around. How close were you to a missed connection? A long lost friend? By how much did you miss something special or magical happen?
Where were you 5 minutes ago? Where will you be in 5 minutes? In the end, we are all just people walking around in each other’s footsteps.
